Biography
Mike Cao
Mike "85 Mics" Cao is a music producer/songwriter and occasional MC from Orange County. He is one-half of the record production duo The Beat Bumz. Inspired by the leading hip-hop producers of the 90’s such as Dr. Dre, Puff Daddy, and Timbaland, Mike used his background in computers to begin experimenting with digital music during the dawn of the digital recording era. This led to his decision to study music production at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
During his college career, Mike interned at Universal Music and served as President of the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA), experiences that helped further educate him the business aspect of the music industry. Around the same time, Mike founded the company Entropy Entertainment along with his business partners Roland Santos and Robby Moya. The company would generalize in an eclectic mix of multimedia products and services, including web design, video game development, events promotion, film production, and music production.
After finishing his degrees, Mike, under the Beat Bumz moniker with partner Robby, would produce for his independent record label, Entropy Records, which was created as a division of Entropy Entertainment.
When he’s not working on tracks, Mike keeps himself busy working on the other aspects of Entropy Entertainment. Aside from web design consulting and film editing, he is currently developing an independent video game for the XBOX 360 which will heavily feature the music of The Beat Bumz.
Robby Moya
Robby Moya is a musician/composer/music producer from Orange County. As a natural self-taught musician, he was part of his high school jazz band, and has performed in various venues with several bands and religious ministries. While bass guitar and piano are his main instruments, Robby is also proficient at performing with other instruments, including lead guitar, brass and percussion, and is an accomplished composer who possesses a vast fundamental knowledge of music theory.
Robby earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Business at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He has also received his Masters degree from California State University, Long Beach, but it was at Pomona where he learned the business and production aspects of the music industry. While there, Robby was a board member of the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA) and co-founder of Entropy Entertainment along with business partners Roland Santos and Mike Cao. He and Mike would furthermore form the music production duo The Beat Bumz. Some of his bigger projects as a part of The Beat Bumz during his college career include producing the main theme songs for the Cal Poly Pomona Barkada Pilipino American Cultural Night performance for three straight years.
Upon graduation, Robby worked at Sony/ATV Music Publishing and produced for various independent Orange County artists such as AP, Sequence, Young Rook, Mucho Deniro, Leah, Jonny T., and other Beat Bumz clients.
Robby currently owns Blueburr Music Publishing, also based in Orange County.
